The Research Group in Ecological Zoology of Arid Zones is part of the Department of Biology of the University of La Serena (Chile). Its responsibility is to fulfill the mission of the Department to which it belongs through the practice of Zoology and Ecology.
The mission of the Group consists of three pillars:
The Group provides academic services in the areas of Education, Agronomy, Journalism, and Environmental Engineering; and for the M.Sc. in Arid Zone Ecology and the Ph.D. in Biology and Applied Ecology. Research conducted by the Group is part of the program of the Department of Biology titled Ecology and Taxonomic Diversity of Arthropods and Vertebrates from the Transitional Desert of Chile. Our community outreach efforts are realized through the Technical Assistance and Extension Program in Ecology and Taxonomic Diversity of Arthropods and Vertebrates from Arid Zones.
The Group is composed of three academicians and one technical assistant, and receives the collaboration of guest researchers, thesis students, and visitors. Our support infrastructure consists of two main labs and two annex labs with their corresponding equipment.
